How does AmberBox differentiate between actual gunshots and false positives (e.g., fireworks, dropped items)?

The AmberBox detectors use tri-factor authentication with percussion, infrared and machine learning sound to detect gunshots. Utilizing this combination mitigates false positives. The system also does not need line of sight to the shooter to detect, a major advantage that maximizes coverage.

What types of firearms and calibers can the system detect reliably?

AmberBox can detect all common types of firearm used in active shooter scenarios.

Installation & Infrastructure

What infrastructure is required for installation (power, connectivity, mounting)?

Detectors only need 12-48V DC power, and can be daisy chained to minimize wiring. Due to their light weight (less than 0.5lbs) devices can easily be mounted directly onto ceiling tiles or walls. Detectors connect to each other and the gateway over a wireless mesh, meaning no Category-6 ethernet cabling is required to each detector.

Can the sensors operate over Wi-Fi, PoE, or do they require cellular backup?

Detectors connect to a gateway wirelessly over a mesh network to send the alert message, and do not need individual data connections. The gateway can be connected into the client network or an AmberBox cellular connection. This means that no IT involvement is required.

Integration & Alerts

How does AmberBox integrate with existing security systems (VMS, access control, mass notification systems)?

AmberBox integrates through all existing security systems, guaranteed. Depending on the vendor, this is through a closed contact relay, API or email ingress.

Does the system support APIs or webhooks for custom integrations?

Yes, an OpenAPI is available.

What types of alerts are issued (SMS, email, 911 integration)?

Alerts are issued through SMS, voice call and email. These can all link directly into local 911 dispatch. AmberBox will handle the connection to 911 as part of installation.

Can alerts be customized based on location or user group?

Yes, all alert types can be customized depending on the threat and location. Groups can be created in the AmberBox Platform and you can choose who receives calls, texts and emails.

Monitoring & Management

Can security personnel access real-time and historical data via a dashboard?

Yes, all active event data and past incidents can be tracked on the AmberBox response platform. This includes the weapon or threat type, location, timeline and who was notified.

Does AmberBox provide a mobile platform for incident management on the go?

Yes, the platform is designed to be easily accessed through mobile devices.
